Emma Kongsbøll


Emma Sofie Kongsböll (born as Emma Sofie Køster 22.06.1880 in Copenhagen - died 3.6.1944 in Frederiksberg) was a painter at Bing&Gröndahl. She was married to Kristian Johan Marius Kongsböll, (9.12.1880 in Strømmen at Randers, died 31.3.1913 in Copehagen) a painter.

Emma Kongsbøll was porcelain and landscape painter. At the age of 16 years she was already employed by Bing & Grondahl, where she was a student of Hans Tegner and, after his death, head of the department. In her paintings, she has portrayed the Jutland nature, especially the area around Mariager, where her family originated, and the landscape of Grenå and Svinkløv. In addition motifs from Frederiksberg. She worked 48 years for Bing&Gröndahl until her death in 1944.

Emma Kongsbøll travelled to Berlin in 1910 and in 1937 she received a diploma for ceramical works in Paris.
