Marianne Høst
Marianne Mathea Høst was a painter. she was born 03.06.1865 in Thisted, died 14/11/1943 at Saunte in Copenhagen.Her parents were book trader and bookbinder Rudolph Høst and Anne Sophie Schou.
Marianne Høst was one of Arnold Krog's first employees at underglaze painting at the Royal. Porcelain, where she completed numerous unicas. She also worked in paralell on oil paintings. Her subjects include landscapes, interiors and genre motifs. These were at that time very popular motifs similar to those she worked with as a porcelain painter. She proved to have a very special skills and a good sense of color.
She was educated at the Drawing and Applied Art School. for Women in 1883 by Marie Luplau and Emilie Mundt Malersk. Then further at the Royal Porcelain Kunstakademy in February 1890 (Viggo Johansen). She painted at the Royal Copenhagen factory from 1885 on until 1904. In 1907-1909 also in Meissen.
