Carl Frederik Liisberg
Carl Frederik Liisberg generated sculptures and was a porcelain painter. He was born 15.05.1860 in Aarhus and died 19.04.1909 at Frederiksberg. His parents were blacksmidth Peter Jensen Liisberg and Ane Nielsen. On 14.09.1895 he was married with Selma Amalia Möllengorg in Gårdsby Smaland. She was born 17.10.1868 in Vaxjo and died 28.01.1963 at Frederiksberg.
C. F. Liisberg joined the Royal Copenhagen factory and was one of Arnold Krog's first employees. He was very talented and innovative in that factory and Danish porcelain art was booming at the time. He performed figure fitting into a richly decorated Fluted dinnerware by Arnold Krog, but modeled also self sculptures for underglaze procelain, including a polar bear that sits on its hind legs. Liisberg had large share of the growth, the naturalistic statuette art was in the Danish porcelain. In addition, he developed into one of the brightest underglaze painters of this technique early period.
Liisberg learned carving technique. He was taught modeling by Hans Christian Berg; painting at figure painter C. F. Andersen; Was at the Kunstakacademy Copenhagen, Dekorations Arts from 1879-82, Sculptors Art 1882-86.
Liisberg acted as teacher in underglaze painting at the Imperial Porcelain Factory, St. Petersburg in 1892. The factory sent him there - later also Carl Mortensen - to do a kind of know how transfer for underglaze painting. He was employed at the Royal Copenhagen Porcelain Factory as Signing porcelain painter and modeller from 1885 to 1909.
