" Hans Henrik Schou was a painter and insurance man. He was born 10.09.1884 in Copenhagen and died 19.3.1949 in Rorvig, His parents were Master of Science later Director Hans Henrik Schou and Christianna Georgia Marstrand. Schou married Astrid Allen on 10.06.1912 in Copenhagen. She was born 06.02.1890 in N.Y., U.S.A., daughter of composer Georg Allen and Alma Hansen. Marriage divorced. Married a second time to Margrete Laub Hansen in Roskilde on 14.12.1930. She was born 01.02.1895 in Copenhagen., Daughter of machine inspector Holger Axel Hansen and Johanne Arngoth Haae Laub.

H. H. Schou decided to earn his money in the insurance industry after a brief tenure as underglaze painter at Royal Copenhagen. For years he exhibited pictures with preferably topography and landscape subjects besides motives from home and its surroundings, where he particularly revolved around the diurnal and seasonal changing light. Despite his directorships and his association work Schou never quite lost the connection to the world of art.

Frimodt 1920; fmd. for Artists' State Supported Croquis School 1920-45; Head of life insurance. A / S Thule 1922, dir. the same 1927-46; the best. for Unite. to capitals. Forskønn. 1930-46...."
